MEDIA ADVISORY: Members of Kick Big Polluters Out campaign decry the 1,770+ fossil fuel lobbyists at COP29 and demand: “Weed Out The Snakes!”
BAKU, Azerbaijan—How many fossil fuel lobbyists are at COP29? At least 1,770- more than all the delegates from the ten most climate vulnerable nations combined. Join us on November 15 to hear how many fossil fuel lobbyists are roaming these halls, and why this poisonous influence must end.
Week one of the UN climate talks is wrapping up in Baku, Azerbaijan. Inside the halls of the talks, Big Polluters fueling the climate crisis and simultaneously enabling systemic violence like the genocide in Palestine are roaming the halls unchecked, again. These corporate power brokers continue infiltrating these climate talks and weakening the global response to climate change in an effort to make deals and increase profits that condemn frontline communities around the world and place the planet on the line.
Join us on November 15 as climate justice and human rights activists, Palestinian activists, youth, women and gender organizations, Indigenous groups, UNFCCC constituencies, and the global campaign to Kick Big Polluters Out– collectively representing millions of people all around the world– are united in demanding governments urgently address the root cause of the climate crisis as well as the genocide in Palestine – the poisonous fossil fuel industry. This diverse makeup of movements and networks of people and communities worldwide are demanding as one voice: it’s time to Weed Out The Snakes!

Visuals: Artivist Network-designed giant black poisonous snake will weave in and out of speakers who are chanting, speaking on the impacts of the number of fossil fuel lobbyists at COP29, and holding protest signs demanding to “Weed Out The Snakes” from the UN Climate Talks.
